The Aravali range is a range of mountains in Western India and eastern Pakistan. Spread over approximately 800km from northeast to southwest; it covers the states of Rajasthan Haryana and Gujarat and also Pakistani provinces of Punjab and Sindh. The northern end of Aravali in India is an isolated hill entering into Haryana state and ending near Delhi. The southern end of Aravali hills is at Palanpur near Ahmadabad, Gujarat.

There is immense wealth of Aravali stone in India and also mineral wealth including Jasper, Zinc, Fluorite, Gypsum, Marble, Asbestos, Soapstone, Lead, Phosphate rock, Ball clay, Calcite, Sandstone, etc.25 years ago, large scale mining of marble and granite started here and due to this there have been ecological destructions and the forest cover has been washed-out 90%. When a mine reaches below the underground water level, a kind of depression is formed that sacks water from areas in surrounding, and the wells are dried up affecting agriculture… Thus the condition of the manual drainage system and groundwater table of the entire region has worsened over the years. About 175,000 workers are employed by the mining industry and 600,000 are dependent on the mining operations. The workers are provided with no safety and health care and therefore lung diseases like TB and silicon are very common among them. The owners do mining in the areas that are located to them and the government plays no role or does not take any action. Aravali stones and marbles are exported in great amount from Aravali hills and are used for different purposes. Granite gang saw size slabs and also in custom cut sizes for floorings and also for the walls in buildings. It is durable and does not wither away in rain or bad weather. They are available in colors like red, green, brown, golden, grey, cream and a number of hues. Even more attractive colors for your house construction like the slabs and flooring can be Jhansi Red or Ruby Red, New Gem Red or New Imperial Red, Black Galaxy or Star Galaxy, Kashmir Gold, Madura Gold, Rosy Pink, Chima Pink, Mokalsar Green, Merry Gold.

Also Aravali in India exports slabs which as an outer wall covering have proved to be a highly cost-effective building material because it does not require any maintenance in terms of whitewash or paint and sit can also stand strong in bad weathers. Sandstone these days has gained reputation in architecture also. Sandstones like rainbow sandstone, teakwood sandstone from Kato of Rajasthan, raj green sandstone, raj pink sandstone, Sholapur red sandstone, Sholapur pink sandstone, Sholapur beige sandstone, Sholapur brown sandstone, chocolate sandstone, Lalitpur yellow sandstone, Lalitpur grey sandstone, Mandana Red sandstone, Shivpuri panther sandstone, Fossil Mint Sandstone, bansi pink sandstone, Gwalior Mint Sandstone, Desert Mint Dhari Sandstone, autumn brown sandstone are the best ones that are exported.
